Sharks need clean oceans
OCEARCH and Ocean Plastics have partnered to remove plastic from the ocean. A portion of all proceeds, from the OCEARCH collection and site-wide will be donated directly to OCEARCH, helping fund their mission to protect sharks and promote healthy oceans.
Where do you get the plastic?
All the plastic that goes into a piece is carefully and painstakingly collected by hand from local Florida beaches. It takes about 3 hours of combing the beach to fill up a pint sized container.
What is micro plastic?
Micro plastic is teeny tiny piece of plastic that were once something much bigger but were broken down through various envornmental factors like sunlight, ocean waves, or animals nibbling on them. Micro plastic is 5mm or smaller but Ocean Plastics can use anything smaller than an inch!
Why is it so bad?
Micro plastic is nearly impossible to recycle because its a combination of so many different types of plastic. Micro plastics looks super tempting to marine life. If eaten it can get stuck in their digestion system leading to them eating less and possibly starvation. Plus, toxic chemicals can seep from broken down plastic, leading to polluted water. Ew.
